NAA is a nonprofit organization representing nearly 2,000 newspapers and their multiplatform businesses in the U.S. and Canada. NAA members include daily newspapers, as well as non-dailies, other print publications and on-line products. Headquartered near Washington, D.C., in Arlington, Va., the Association focuses on the major issues that affect today's newspaper industry: public policy/legal matters, advertising revenue growth and audience development across the medium's broad portfolio of products and digital platforms.
Roundedcube took over the redesign process of naa.org midway through and also upgraded/re-architected their existing Sitecore CMS implementation. With several totally different web presences out there besides naa.org, Roundedcube created a Sitecore instance capable of managing multiple sites. NAA's member management system, TIMSS, was integrated to create an e-commerce site that blended in with the overall site. The product data from TIMSS was then pulled into the Sitecore-driven site to allow users to purchase membership upgrades, subscriptions and more.
With several stand-alone websites under NAA's umbrella, a Single Sign-On (SSO) mechanism was created to authenticate users automatically. Later, Roundedcube designed and developed a Community aspect of the website which required the customization and integration of Community Server. This new community site replaced their existing Lyris communication system. The result was technically three websites (Sitecore, Community Server and TIMSS E-com) that visually flowed together seamlessly and all of NAA's other web properties sharing a single sign-on capability.
